How & why?

A Kairos Moment

It didn’t begin the way we had planned. We—Katie, Alyssa, and Arkitt—were supposed to meet at a quiet coffee shop near the bus station, but after a few unexpected turns, we ended up in a booth at the local A&W instead. It wasn’t the setting we had imagined for a vision meeting—but somehow, it turned out to be exactly what we needed.

What started as a simple conversation about past events and future possibilities quickly became something much more meaningful. At the heart of it all was one central question: How can we create something that reaches beyond the Trinity Western campus and into the surrounding community?

As we talked, Alyssa shared stories from her roots in church camps—spaces built intentionally for connection, curiosity, and spiritual encounter. Places where faith felt tangible, friendships were formed, and transformation often began in quiet, unexpected ways. That idea of relational, intentional space deeply resonated with all of us.

It became clear we weren’t just brainstorming an event—we were dreaming about something special. A space where young people could encounter Christ in ways that feel personal, creative, and deeply real. Not just another program, but a movement that makes room for authenticity, belonging, and encounter.

When Katie first reached out to Alyssa, it felt like a kairos moment—a divine alignment of timing, calling, and readiness. Alyssa came to the table ready to offer her creativity and leadership in service to something bigger than herself.

By the time we reached the bus stop, our conversation had expanded to the bigger-picture dreams we each carried—Katie’s hope of launching an adventure magazine, Arkitt’s passion for international business, and Alyssa’s vision of hosting a purpose-driven music festival. Different callings, different spheres—but all pointing toward the same desire: to use our gifts to build something that matters.

That’s the heart behind The Mission.

It’s an invitation to come together—to celebrate what God has already done through Mars’ Hill, and to witness what He is preparing to do next. This night isn’t about our own strength or strategy, but about trusting that God weaves each chapter together for a purpose—and that He brings the right people together at the right time.

And now, you’re invited to step into that story with us.
